Children's ActivitiesFor a playground, choose Santa Monica, Marina Del Rey, Playa Del Rey, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Belmont Shore/Long Beach, Seal Beach, Newport Beach (Balboa), Laguna Beach (Aliso). No Waves make for quiet play in the ocean at "Mother's Beach" areas in Marina Del Rey (behind a jetty) and Alamitos Bay/Naples/Belmont Shore area of Long Beach (Marine Park on Appian Way at 2nd St, west of PCH, in a Marina). (Huntington Harbour in Huntington Beach also has one, but it's small and hard to get to on Humboldt Island.) Other activities are available at most Beaches - some of the best are: Santa Monica with its Pacific Park pier amusements, volleyball, rollerblading, and shopping is a family favorite, San Pedro has 2 Museums, an Aquarium, a Trolley, Port O'Call and many other things to visit. Long Beach has an Aquarium, Queen Mary, and Downtown. Hermosa Beach has a fun atmosphere with shops close. Seal Beach is compact with the playground, pier and shops very close to the beach. Balboa Beach in Newport Beach has Rollerblading on the Boardwalk, and shops nearby. Laguna Beach has picturesque cliffs and rocks. Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm/Soak City, and OC Great Park are in Orange County, so OC Beaches would be your most likely option. (e.g. Newport Beach or Laguna Beach). Universal Studios and Hollywood would be closest to Santa Monica Beach. |
